The embassy, through the Foreign Ministry of the Sultanate of Oman, works to strengthen ties of cooperation and to consolidate the existing friendly relations between the Sultanate and the United States of America.

The Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman offers a range of consular services both to Omani Citizens visiting the United States and to American citizens or residents wishing to visit Oman for tourism or business purposes. These services cover:

- Emergency help for Omani citizens
- Advice on business opportunities in Oman

The aims of Oman’s mission to the United States include:

- Promoting political and diplomatic cooperation
- Security and defense cooperation
- Facilitating trade and investment between the two countries
- Promoting cultural, educational and scientific exchanges
